Exhibition and Prizes

On the 13th of November the participants finished their paintings and exhibited them in Jong Bonaire.

At 4pm, all kids from Jong Bonaire were invited to vote on the paintings to select the popular vote winner. For voting, each kid got a pastechi and a drink. The winner of the popular vote was Egiyon Campagnard (13) with his painting titled 'A New Dawn.' His award is that his painting will be made into a mural at Jong Bonaire!

As the judges deliberated, the top 10 finalists received goodybags sponsored by SKAL, and all participants received a diploma.

At 5:00pm, after speeches from organizers including Jackie Bernabela (BONAI), Sulainie Martis (SKAL, OLB), Michel Nicolaas (Jong Bonaire), Ruben la Cruz and Karolien Helweg (Kas di Arte), Dillon Rannou, and Oliver Antczak (University of Cambridge, CHRC), the judges had voted on their favourite painting.

The judges were, Nochi Coffie, Jay B. Haviser, Delno Tromp, Karolien Helweg, and Dillon Rannou. They selected Jair Rodriguez Yance's (12) painting titled 'Un dia di Piskamentu.' Jair won an electric scooter as his award.

The exhibition stays open at Jong Bonaire for the next week and the paintings will go on tour to other exhibitions around Bonaire. Come by and visit! You are also welcome to visit the digital exhibition of the pieces on this website.
